Issue 6.1 - sky blue
This week we are soaring into the sky with poems about sky creatures and sky worlds.
Here’s a short but mighty poem in which Tyler writes in the voices of many "hunters taking wing," many "rulers of the air.” The language and the rhythm almost sound like the creatures are reciting a pledge!
“Hunters of the Air" by Tyler - 3rd grade, MD
The next poem was dictated by a 4-year-old after a visit to the zoo. Rafe’s word choices really capture all the details that make a condor a condor!
"Condor” by Rafe G. - age 4, MD
Our next poem is really a rock poem instead of a sky poem, but if you read closely you’ll see why it fits this issue. Notice how the poet Kailin includes questions in her poem. Poems are a very good way to wonder, especially about “an egg filled with thunder.”
“Geode" by Kailin - age 10, MD
Our last poem is…well, hilarious! It includes two different voices, Cloud and Sun just up there having a conversation…
"Cloud and Sun Outside in the Sky" by Xavier - age 8, MD
Sometimes a poem can make you laugh AND make you see things in a new way!
