This week we are diving into some water poems. Maybe they’ll make you think of summer lakes, summer rivers, summer oceans? It’s not technically summer yet, but June is just around the corner…

Here’s another pair of nature mandalas, which are geometric designs of objects or shapes. These blue and green arrangements made both poets think of water.

It’s very harmonious, the way Coraline made “all the flowers/and leaves/float together” in this one.

The next poem takes us to the bottom of a pond. This design is not a symmetrical pattern of leaves and pebbles; this time Josephine made a picture with her nature elements. Ribbit!

Our next poem doesn’t include any art, but the way Ethan made the three lines get longer and longer gives a slow feeling of flow—like water in a river.

“Rivers" by Ethan - 2nd grade, MD

Our last poem is full of the voices of colorful corals. Look how Angelina arranged her words and lines to resemble a coral reef with its holes and hiding places—a hotel for reef creatures!
